To William G. Morgan’s imaginative invention of volleyball in 1895 in the dingy YMCA gymnasium in Holyoke, Massachusetts, in the United States, the sport has come a long way. Two centuries have begun there, as well as a new millennium. Volleyball is currently one of the top five international sports, and the FIVB is the largest international sporting body in the world with 220 affiliated national federations.
