The Central University of Kashmir, also known as the University of Kashmir South Campus, was established in March 2009 by an Act of Parliament (The Central Universities Act, 2009). The university was created with the aim of advancing education and research in various fields while catering to the unique academic needs of the region. Since its inception, CUK has grown exponentially, offering a diverse range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across multiple disciplines.

For students and visitors traveling to The Central University of Kashmir, the region has two primary railway stations within reasonable proximity:

1. Srinagar Railway Station:

Situated approximately 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) from The Central University of Kashmir, Srinagar Railway Station is the nearest railhead to the university. While the station is relatively small, it connects Srinagar to the broader Indian rail network. 2. Budgam Railway Station:

Traveling by road is a popular means of reaching The Central University of Kashmir. The region has several bus stops catering to local and regional bus services:

1. Nowgam Chowk Bus Stop:

Positioned approximately 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) from the university, Nowgam Chowk Bus Stop is the closest point for those arriving by bus. This bustling bus stop connects the university to Srinagar city and its adjoining areas.

2. Parimpora Bus Stand:

Located around 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) from the university, Parimpora Bus Stand is another important terminal for buses traveling to Srinagar and its outskirts. From here, visitors can find shared cabs, auto-rickshaws, or buses to reach The Central University of Kashmir.

Nearest Airport:

For those traveling by air, Srinagar International Airport is the nearest airport to The Central University of Kashmir. Situated approximately 22 kilometers (13.7 miles) from the university, the airport provides domestic and limited international flights. Upon landing at the airport, travelers can avail taxis or pre-arranged transport to reach the university campus conveniently.
