CSB Bank Limited, the oldest private sector bank in Kerala, was founded in 1920 as The Catholic Syrian Bank Limited and had a modest beginning in November of that year. The bank was added to the Reserve Bank of India Act’s Second Schedule in 1969, marking the time when it was made a scheduled bank. It left its traditional stronghold in 1972 and set up shop in Mumbai’s Chembur neighborhood. The bank entered international banking in 1975, the same year it received “A Class” Scheduled Bank status and became a bank.
